| Gopika was born to Anto Francis and his wife Dessy Hunto. Gopika studied at St. Raphel School in Ollur and completed her 12th standard. She later graduated in Sociology from Calicut University. Soon after winning a beauty contest at Thrissur, gorgeous Gopika landed a jewellery advertisement. With that advertisement campaign Gopika soon attracted the attention of the Malayalam film world. Thus Gopika's journey into films began in 2002 with a Malayalam movie "Pranayamanithooval" directed by Thulasi Das. The film failed to click at the box office. But Gopika's sizzling hot performance in her debut movie brought her several movie offers. Her second movie, "4 The People" released in 2004 became a major hit in Kerala. Notably the song 'Lejjavathiye' garnered her more publicity. The movie was dubbed into other south Indian languages giving sexy Gopika a wider base of recognition down south. Sensuous-looking Gopika made her Tamil debut with "Autograph" released in 2004 directed by Cheran. The movie "Autograph" went on to become a smash hit in Tamil. Ever since, there was no turning back for this marvelous actress. Gopika was featured in several hit Tamil movies. Besides Malayalam and Tamil movies, Gopika has also acted in Kannada and Telugu movies. Gopika shot to fame after her role in the super duper hit film 'Autograph' where she played a young widow. She then followed up with performances in movies such as 'Kanaa Kandaen', 'Emmagan', 'Thotti Jaya', 'Veerappu' and 'Vellithirai'.
Though Gopika admitted that she'd like to do movies for some more time before getting married, she made this decision especially because she has a younger sister who has finished her studies and is preparing to get married too.
Gopika also added that it is with a happy and satisfied frame of mind that she is bidding farewell to the world of acting. After marriage she will move in with her husband in Ireland.
